Elena Poryvkina


Coach and Repetiteur

Elena Poryvkina graduated from the Vaganova Leningrad Choreographic College in 1989. After graduating from the College until 1998 she worked as a ballet soloist at the Academic Theatre Choreographic Miniatures directed by Askold Makarov, People’s Artist of the USSR. 

From 1998 to 2000 she worked in the United States. She performed lead roles in such ballets as Swan Lake, Paquita, Giselle, Raymonda (choreographed by Dennis Nahat), Romeo and Juliet (choreographed by K. Boeru), The Nutcracker, and Le Corsaire.

In 2006 Elena Poryvkina graduated with distinction from the Pedagogical Faculty of the Vaganova Academy of Russian Ballet. In 2013 she completed her postgraduate studies at the Vaganova Academy of Russian Ballet. From 2008 to 2023 she was Senior Teacher at the Classical Dance Department of the Vaganova Academy of Russian Ballet. 

Since 2016 Elena Poryvkina has collaborated with the Beijing Dance Academy where she has taught the Vaganova method of teaching classical ballet and given master classes each year. Also, master classes with her participation have been annually held in Japan, South Korea, Finland, Spain, and other countries. 

She has repeatedly been a member of the jury of Tokyo Prix International Competition.

For her active participation in cultural development in Russia Elena Poryvkina has been awarded the Gratitude of V.R. Medinsky, Minister of Culture of the Russian Federation.

Since July 2023 she has worked as a coach-repetiteur at the Primorsky Stage of the Mariinsky Theatre.
