Born in Volgograd.
Graduated from the Vaganova Academy of Russian Ballet in 1999.
Joined the Mariinsky Ballet in 1999.

In 2013 as part of the Mariinsky Theatre’s project A Creative Workshop of Young Choreographers Anton Pimonov staged the one-act ballet Choreographic Game 3x3 to music by Johann Peter Pixis (Piano Concerto in C Major, 3rd movement), which is now in the repertoire of the Mariinsky Ballet.

In April 2014 the Mariinsky Theatre staged the premiere of Anton Pimonov's ballet Inside the Lines to music by Maurice Ravel (Piano Concerto No 1 in G Major). In March 2015 came the premiere of the ballets Bambi to music by Andrei Golovin and In the Jungle to music by Alexander Lokshin.
