Tomoya Imai


Principal of Tani Momoko Ballet Company

Since Tomoya Imai was 10 years old, he has begun to learn ballet at Mikiko Inoue Ballet studio. He has taken part in summer courses of Royal Ballet School of Great Britain in 1998 and School of the American Ballet in 2000. From 1999 to 2001 he trained at School of San Francisco Ballet. During the year in 2012 he interned at the Australian Ballet with assistance of the The Agency of Culture of Japan.

In 2003, Tomoya Imai has joined Tani Momoko Ballet Company. He debuted at the performance Swan Lake, playing a Pas de trois. Then he appeared in Nutcracker as Snow Prince. He has also taken part several times at the performances organized by the Japan Ballet Association including Paquita and Sleeping Beauty (as the Blue bird).

His repertoire including Giselle, Raymonda, Bayadere, Nutcracker, Le Corsaire (staged by Eldar Aliev), Sleeping Beauty, Swan Lake, Romeo and Juliette, Don Quixote, Lizetta (La Fille mal gardée), Les Miserables.
