Hongguo Zhang was born in China. He holds a degree from the Xinghai Conservatory of Music (Guangzhou), where he studied under the renowned tenor and vocal pedagogue, Prof. Yang Yan, Doctor of Arts. In 2026, he completed his Master’s degree at the Herzen State Pedagogical University of Russia (class of Prof. Tatyana Dmitriyevna Smelkova, Honored Artist of Russia, Doctor of Arts).
During the recent years, Zhang Hong-Guo has achieved significant success in international competitions. In November 2020, he won the Gold Medal at the Macao International Arts Competition in the Best Youth Academic Vocal Performance category. Between 2020 and 2021, he consistently ranked first in his class, was repeatedly awarded the title Best in Profession, and received scholarships from the Conservatory.
From 2021 to 2022, he received scholarships from the Outstanding Innovative Talents Program of the Xinghai Conservatory.
Since October 2026, Zhang Hong-Guo has been a soloist of the Opera Company of the Primorsky Stage of the Mariinsky Theatre.
