In 2006, Evgeny Shagarov graduated from the Tattimbet Karaganda College of Arts as an Artist of Musical Comedy Theatre.
From 2006 to 2011, he studied at the Kurmangazy Kazakh National Conservatory (class of Prof. Sh.K. Abilov, People’s Artist of the Republic of Kazakhstan).
In 2014, he took master classes from Branislav Jatič, soloist at the Serbian National Theatre in Novi Sad.
In 2015, he undertook an internship with Veniamin Li, Honored Artist of the Kazakh Soviet Socialist Republic.
From 2005 to 2006, he worked as an artist at the Karaganda Musical Comedy Theatre. Since 2011, he has been a member of the B. Baykadamov State Choral Chapel and the Kazakh State Academic Philharmonic named after Zhambyl (choir soloist). Since 2018, he has been a soloist at the Abay Opera House (Almaty, Kazakhstan), and a guest soloist at the State Opera and Ballet Theatre “Astana Opera” (Kazakhstan).
He has worked with such opera stage directors as Alfonso Antoniozzi, Matteo Mazzoni, Lorenzo Mariani, Davide Livermore, and Irkin Gabitov.
Since February 2026, Evgeny Shagarov has been a soloist of the Opera Company of the Primorsky Stage of the Mariinsky Theatre.
His repertoire includes:
Rigoletto (Rigoletto, G. Verdi);
Dr Bartolo (Il barbiere di Siviglia, G. Rossini);
Don Magnifico (La Cenerentola, G. Rossini);
Alfio (Cavalleria rusticana, P. Mascagni);
Amonasro (Aida, G. Verdi);
Baron Scarpia (Tosca, G. Puccini);
Ibn-Hakia (Iolanta, P. Tchaikovsky).
His concert repertoire includes romances by Russian and foreign composers, folk songs, Soviet songs, and songs of the war years.
