School Holidays at the Mariinsky Theatre: Fairy-tales, Lyrical Scenes, and Spectacular Performances on the Primorsky Stage

From October 30 to November 4, 2025, during the school holidays, the Primorsky Stage of the Mariinsky Theatre will treat the young audiences and their parents to a lavish program of classical repertoire productions.

The series will open with two performances of Pyotr Tchaikovsky’s fairytale ballet The Nutcracker. Much loved by Primorsky audiences, this production has become a symbol of holiday and magic. Expressive costumes and picturesque sets, vibrant stage effects, Tchaikovsky’s legendary music, and classical choreography performed by the leading ballet soloists of the Primorsky Stage will be presented to the public in the Great Hall of the Theatre on October 30 and 31, 2025.

Based on Alexander Pushkin’s poetic novel of the same name, Pyotr Tchaikovsky’s Eugene Onegin, the opera performed at the opening of the Theatre in Vladivostok, will be presented on the Primorsky Stage of the Mariinsky Theatre on November 1, 2025. The performance will be preceded by a fascinating lecture within the framework of Scenic Introduction project, which will reveal some new facets of this legendary masterpiece.

The fairytale theme will continue with The Sleeping Beauty  by Pyotr Tchaikovsky. The story of the beautiful Princess Aurora and the evil fairy Carabosse, who bewitched her, has been embodied in a variety of forms, ballet being the most spectacular one. A true féerie of virtuoso dance and vibrant colorful setting awaits audiences on the Primorsky Stage of the Mariinsky Theatre on November 2 and 3, 2025.

Nikolai Andreyevich Rimsky-Korsakov, the greatest storyteller in the history of Russian music, has embodied tales of miracles and magic on the musical stage more than once in a grandiose way. The Tale of Tsar Saltan is considered the merriest of his operas. The well-aimed characterizations make truly picturesque images. Magnificent symphonic fragments, which had brought Rimsky-Korsakov resounding success even before the opera’s premiere, have become some of the most recognizable melodies of Russian classics. The audiences will be able to enjoy those on November 4, 2025 at the Great Hall of the Primorsky Stage.

During the school holidays, the Chamber Hall presents chamber performances for children and youth: The Little Prince by Leonid Klinichev (November 1, 2025) and Town Musicians of Bremen with music by Gennady Gladkov (November 2, 2025 at 12:00 and 15:00, November 3, 2025 at 12:00 and 15:00).
