Soloists, the Chorus of the Primorsky Stage and the Mariinsky Orchestra of the Primorsky Stage will give a big public concert

The large-scale public concert is to be given by the Opera Company, the Chorus of the Primorsky Stage and the Mariinsky Orchestra of the Primorsky Stage under the baton of the Principal Conductor Pavel Smelkov in the central square of Vladivostok on September 29, 2024 at 16:00.

The occasional concert will mark both the Great Consecration of the Transfiguration Cathedral building and the anniversary of Alexander Sergeyevich Pushkin’s birth.

At 16:00 the singers and musicians will give a big concert at which the cantata New Temple composed by Alexander Smelkov on the occasion of the opening of the Transfiguration Cathedral will be performed. The composition was premiered here, in the central square of Vladivostok, in September 2023 to commemorate the opening of the main Cathedral of the Primorsky Region.

Moreover, the concert is to be a continuation of the series of events marking the 225th anniversary of Alexander Sergeyevich Pushkin’s birth. The repertoire of the Primorsky Stage of the Mariinsky Theatre is rich in the music legacy inspired by the greatest Russian poet’s works. This year the operas, special concert programmes and musical performances have been assembled to form the cycle “Pushkin – 225”. Some selected compositions have entered into the programme of the public concert. The audience will be able to enjoy the Coronation Scene from the opera Boris Godunov by Modest Musorgsky and the arioso The Prophet by Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov, based on Pushkin’s works.
