The China National Center of the Performing Arts Orchestra will first appear at the Primorsky Stage in October

The China National Center of the Performing Arts Orchestra will first appear in the Great Hall of the Primorsky Stage of the Mariinsky Theatre in Vladivostok on October 7, 2024 at 19:30. The event is to be held as part of the Cross Years of Russian-Chinese Culture.

The China National Center of the Performing Arts Orchestra is the resident orchestra of the National Center of the Performing Arts (NCPA) in Beijing, the main music venue in the People’s Republic of China. In October 2024, the Orchestra will first appear in Russia, including the Zaryadye Concert Hall in Moscow on October 1, where Maestro Valery Gergiev will take the baton, and the Concert Hall of the Mariinsky Theatre in Saint Petersburg on October 4. On October 7 the Orchestra will give a concert in Vladivostok.

The programme includes works by Russian composers and contemporary Chinese ones. Lyu Qiming’s Ode to the Red Flag and Pyotr Tchaikovsky’s Piano Concerto No. 1 will be performed in Part I of the concert. In Part II, the Orchestra will perform Chen Qigang’s Joie éternelle for trumpet and orchestra and Alexander Scriabin’s Poème de l’extase.

As soloists, Luo Wei, a Chinese pianist, and Semyon Salomatnikov, a Russian trumpeter, the First Prize-winner at the XVII International Tchaikovsky Competition, will take part in the concert. The baton will be held by the Principal Conductor of the China National Symphony Orchestra, Li Xincao.
