The Primorsky Stage of the Mariinsky Theatre presents its playbill until the end of the theatre season 2024/25. The audiences are in for colorful musical events, the return of favorite performances, children’s operas and the highlights of the repertoire.
In February, the opera playbill will be featuring a grand marathon of Giuseppe Verdi’s masterpieces. In addition to La traviata, Rigoletto and Aida, the public will enjoy operatic rarities. On February 16, 2025, Don Carlo will be performed; on February 20, 2025, Macbeth. On February 23, 2025, the great “opera in canonical dress”, Requiem, will be performed. The final chord of the series of events will be a concert version of the opera Il trovatore. It will be performed for the first time by the Primorsky Stage opera soloists on March 1, 2025.
The eventful playbill also includes the latest opera premieres of the Primorsky Stage. Gaetano Donizetti’s comic opera buffa Don Pasquale will be performed on March 21 and 23, 2025, and on April 25 and 27, 2025. Pyotr Tchaikovsky’s serenest opera, Iolanta, will be performed on January 18, 2025 at 14:00 and 19:00, as well as on April 18, 2025. In addition, the public will enjoy one of the most dynamic and cheerful repertoire pieces, Sergei Prokofiev’s opera The Love for Three Oranges, on January 10, 2025, March 12, 2025 and May 11, 2025.
The ballet playbill features performances that will suit every taste. Among the classic gems are Raymonda by Alexander Glazunov (January 17, 2025, March 8 and 9, 2025, May 17, 2025), Don Quixote by Ludwig Minkus (January 19, 2025, March 13, 2025, April 24, 2025), and Le Corsaire by Adolphe Adam (March 6, 2025, May 3, 2025). The series of colorful performances will be complemented by the vibrant and dynamic ballet Konyok-Gorbunok (The Little Humpbacked Horse) by Rodion Shchedrin (January 11, 2025, March 29, 2025 at 14:00 and 19:00).
Important holidays and milestone anniversaries will be marked by special musical events. On May 9, 2025, the concert version of Alexander Borodin’s opera Prince Igor will be performed, and on May 18, 2025, a large-scale concert “Tchaikovsky – 185” will be held, dedicated to the anniversary of the great Russian composer.
