September on the Primorsky Stage: Performances by Albina Shagimuratova, the Return of Operas for Children, and Grandiose Ballets

The velvet season in the capital of the Far East will treat you to wonderful weather and marvelous events on the Primorsky Stage of the Mariinsky Theatre.

On September 1, 2023, Die Fledermaus operetta by Johann Strauss II will maintain a carefree summer mood in the audience. Die Zauberflöte by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (September 3, 2023) and Eugene Onegin by Pyotr Tchaikovsky (September 17, 2023) are good for family viewing which is especially important at the onset of the school year.

The tour of the Honored Artist of Russia Albina Shagimuratova will be the musical centerpiece of the month. On September 9, 2023, the singer will glorify the Rachmaninoff – 150 concert program which is timed to coincide with the anniversary of the outstanding composer Sergei Rachmaninoff. On September 15, 2023, the audience will enjoy a concert performance of Gaetano Donizetti’s dramma tragico Lucia di Lammermoor, where the singer will be starring. This part is one of the most iconic ones of her career. On both evenings, the console of the Mariinsky Orchestra of the Primorsky Stage will be occupied by the Principal Conductor of the Theatre Pavel Smelkov.

September’s ballet playbill includes only magnificent and spectacular performances. The audiences will be treated to impeccable classical choreography in La Bayadère by Ludwig Minkus (September 2, 2023), Raymonda by Alexander Glazunov (September 8, 2023) and The Sleeping Beauty by Pyotr Tchaikovsky (September 14 and 16, 2023).

The favorite children’s performances will return to the playbill of the Theatre in September as well. On September 2, 2023, the Chamber Hall of the Primorsky Stage will open its doors to Rustam Sagdiev’s opera The Turnip, a colorful and picturesque performance for the whole family. The audience will have a hearty laugh and an energy boost enjoying Sergei Banevich’s opera Murych the Cat (September 9, 2023), and will plunge into the world of pure dreams enjoying Leonid Klinichev’s opera The Little Prince (September 16, 2023).
