Summer Part of the VIII International Mariinsky Far East Festival: Summing up

On Thursday, July 27, 2023, the first part of the VIII International Mariinsky Far East Festival, Vladivostok, came to its completion on the Primorsky Stage of the Mariinsky Theatre. More than 6,500 people attended the summer program events and enjoyed the best classical ballet performances featuring guest soloists from St Petersburg.

The final event of the Forum’s first part was the performance of the fantasy ballet Giselle by Adolphe Adam. The ballet program also included Raymonda by Alexander Glazunov and Don Quixote by Ludwig Minkus. From July 22 to July 27, 2023, the Primorsky Stage was visited by spectators from Vladivostok and by other Russian and foreign guests, including ballet connoisseurs from China, Japan and India.

The remarkable thing is that the performances were held as part of the “Great Tour” project in accordance with the All-Russian Tour and Concert Plan of the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation.

“The idea to reconstitute a unified touring system has received an incredible response from creative teams across the country. The number of participants in the “Great Tour” and “We are Russia” programs of the All-Russian Tour and Concert Plan grows steadily every year. Hundreds of artists get the opportunity to tour various corners of Russia, to gain unique professional experience and to be charged by creative energy. The inhabitants of Russian cities and towns get a chance to enjoy the best performances and concerts”, said Olga Lyubimova, Minister of Culture of the Russian Federation.

The legendary classics were presented by two Mariinsky companies, from Vladivostok and St Petersburg. Among the guest ballet dancers from the Mariinsky Theatre who performed brilliantly at the Festival, there were prima ballerina Oxana Skorik, principal dancers Andrei Yermakov and Timur Askerov, first soloists Elena Yevseyeva, Alexander Sergeev and Yevgeny Konovalov, soloists Alexandra Khiteyeva, Anastasia Lukina, Maria Bulanova and Ruslan Stenyushkin.
