Renowned Opera Singer Ivan Gyngazov to Take Part in a Performance of the Primorsky Stage of the Mariinsky Theatre in December

On December 15, 2023, guest tenor Ivan Gyngazov will appear in the main male part in Pyotr Tchaikovsky’s opera The Queen of Spades. The performance is dedicated to the memory of Yuri Temirkanov, Stage Director of the legendary production, which today is only presented on the Primorsky Stage of the Mariinsky Theatre.

An outstanding singer with a powerful and rich voice, Ivan Gyngazov is a soloist of the Helikon Opera in Moscow, a guest soloist of the Mariinsky and Mikhailovsky Theatres in St. Petersburg, the Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow, and also a recipient of the Onegin National Opera Award. His current repertoire includes parts requiring the highest performing skills. The singer has numerously visited Vladivostok on tour and has already managed to captivate the audience with the images of Bogdan Sobinin (A Life for the Tsar), Radamès (Aida), Manrico (Il trovatore), Calaf (Turandot), Ivan Lykov (The Tsar’s Bride) and Herman (The Queen of Spades). “This is a wonderful singer with a voice of rare power and sonority, a subtle musician”, Kommersant newspaper says about him as Herman.

On December 15, 2023, the Primorsky Stage audience will hear the singer in The Queen of Spades staged by Yuri Temirkanov, which is recognized as a classic example of opera direction and continues to delight the public with its luxurious design and impressive directorial techniques. In this production there are historical costumes, the famous fence in the Summer Garden, sophisticated interiors and the ghost of the old countess looking very real.

The main parts will be also performed by the Primorsky Stage soloists: Marat Mukhametzyanov, Alexei Repin, Liliya Kadnikova, Natalia Yakimova. Laura Bustamante will make her debut as the Countess. The performance will be conducted by the Principal Conductor of the Primorsky Stage, Pavel Smelkov.

We should also mention that by the end of the year, the audiences will be able to enjoy other opera masterpieces. Among them, there will be Rigoletto (December 7, 2023), Pagliacci (December 8, 2023), Die Zauberflöte (December 10, 2023), and Die Fledermaus (December 17, 2023). Among the vivid premiere performances that are impossible to miss, there are the opera The Love for Three Oranges (December 13, 19, 26 and 27, 2023) and the musical performance for the whole family Town Musicians of Bremen (December 23 and 30, 2023). The repertoire for the youngest audiences will be complemented by Murych the Cat (December 9, 2023), The Little Prince (December 16, 2023) and The Turnip (December 24, 2023).
