The Primorsky Stage’s repertoire for February is announced

In  February  the  audience  will  be  able  to  enjoy  the following main recent premieres of the 9th season at the Primorsky Stage of the Mariinsky Theatre: Ruggero Leoncavallo’s opera Pagliacci, staged by Marat Gatsalov, on February 11, 2022 and February 24, 2022 and the contemporary one-act ballet Phaedra, choreographed by Flemming Flindt, which is to be given the same night with The Firebird, choreographed by Eldar Aliev, on February 5, 2022.

Having returned from Saint Petersburg, where they were a success on tour, the ballet company of the Primorsky Stage will represent the following classic ballets choreographed traditionally: Giselle and Le Corsaire to the music by Adolphe Adam, Don Quixote and La Bayadère to the music by Ludwig Minkus and the enduring masterpiece Swan Lake composed by Pyotr Tchaikovsky.

The February playbill also includes some 21st century ballet productions. On February 12, 2022 the audience is expected to enjoy The Little Humpbacked Horse, choreographed by Alexei Ratmansky, one of the best known Russian choreographers in the world. On February 19, 2022 the spectators will see the following exclusive one-act ballets which were specially created for the Primorsky Stage: Visions fugitives and Daphnis et Chloé, choreographed by Dmitry Pimonov in a neoclassical style.

The devotees of the Russian opera are invited to enjoy Pyotr Tchaikovsky’s Eugene Onegin and the revised version of Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov’s The Tale of Tsar Saltan. The February playbill also announces popular foreign operas such as Aida by Giuseppe Verdi, Turandot by Giacomo Puccini, and Carmen by Georges Bizet and operetta Die Fledermaus by Johann Strauss II.

On February 5, 2022 and February 27, 2022 operas for young audiences will be represented in the Chamber Hall of the Primorsky Stage, such as Murych the Cat, The Little Prince and Scenes from the Life of Nikolenka Irtenev. The vocal and instrumental concert “Evening with Oscar Wilde” will be performed in the Chamber Hall on February 12, 2022 and February 13, 2022, and the chamber concert “This Beautiful 20th Century” will be given there on February 27, 2022.
