In June 2021 Anton Torbeev, a conductor of the Primorsky Stage of the Mariinsky Theatre, took part in the Only Stage International Conducting Competition. The conductor was awarded a special prize by the European professional jury.
“First I wish to thank the organizers of the online competition in the hard pandemic period. The Competition was organized by the Only Stage Management Music Agency based in London. To take part in the Competition, I provided a record of our The Tsar’s Bride opera and records of concerts given by the National Philharmonic Orchestra of Russia under my baton. I am very pleased to receive the special prize at this Competition because, first, it confirms my professional level and, second, it grants consultations from the International Music Agency that works with leading soloists and conductors”, said Anton Torbeev.
Anton Torbeev has been a conductor at the Primorsky Stage of the Mariinsky Theatre since 2013. His conducting repertoire includes dozens of operas and ballets of the Primorsky Stage. He also collaborates with many Russian and foreign orchestras. In January 2018 Anton Torbeev received the Audience Award at the 1st Hong Kong International Conducting Competition.
