On November 27, 2020 and November 29, 2020 some events featuring Edem Umerov, a soloist of the Mariinsky Theatre in Saint Petersburg, will be held at the Primorsky Stage.
On November 27, 2020 Edem Umerov will sing the role of Baron Scarpia in Tosca by Giacomo Puccini. His companions on the stage will be soloists of the Primorsky Stage of the Mariinsky Theatre – Lilia Kadnikova as Floria Tosca and Mergen Sandanov as Mario Cavarodossi. The Mariinsky Orchestra of the Primorsky Stage will be under the baton of Pavel Smelkov, the Principal Conductor.
On November 29, 2020 the soloist will sing the primary role of the Hetman Mazepa in Mazepa. The opera is to be shown at the Primorsky Stage in concert performance dedicated to 180 years since the birth of Pyotr Tchaikovsky. The Mariinsky Orchestra of the Primorsky Stage will be under the baton of Pavel Smelkov, the Principal Conductor. The Russian Navy Pacific Fleet Orchestra will take part in the show.
Edem Umerov, a baritone opera singer, has a solid voice of gold with the diapason well evened. In 1991 he graduated from the Saint Petersburg Conservatory named after N.A. Rimsky-Korsakov. In 1992 he became a leading soloist at the Saint Petersburg Opera Theatre. In 1998 he joined the opera company of the Mariinsky Theatre where he appeared on such well-known stages as the Royal Opera House in Covent Garden, La Scala, Teatro Real, Theater Baden-Baden, and others.
Edem Umerov’s repertoire is comprehensive. His Wagnerian and Verdian works are brilliant, and he sings a lot of Russian opera roles, appearing as Boris Godunov in Boris Godunov, Count Tomsky in The Queen of Spades, Grigory Gryaznoy in The Tsar’s Bride, Aleko in Aleko, Tonio in Pagliacci, Nabucco in Nabucco, Macbeth in Macbeth, Rigoletto in Rigoletto, Scarpia in Tosca, the High Priest in Samson et Dalila, Jochanaan in Salome, Sir John Falstaff in Falstaff, and others.
