About the production

The Brilliant Divertissement was choreographed by our Theatre’s founder Leonid Yacobson, Honoured Artist of the RSFSR (Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic). He conceptualised it as a conversation between himself and the ballet masters of ages past, whose legacy he wished to uphold. A thoughtful viewer will notice the wealth of classical elements at play here.

Vyacheslav Samodurov’s Cheeky Chastushki pays homage to Rodion Shchedrin, a remarkable contemporary composer. Meanwhile, 598 Beats is the latest show that Vyacheslav has staged at our Theatre. Both productions have received the Golden Soffit, the highest honour in the world of ballet in St. Petersburg.
