About the performers

The Orchestra was founded in 1978. Performing national Chinese music the Orchestra promotes and advances China’s musical heritage. 

Its repertoire includes more than 600 songs and musical compositions. Among them are Walking on Coals, Clivia, The Coachman, The Sleigh by Zhu Guangqing, Lake of the Sun and Moon, Concerto No. 1 for Suona and Orchestra, Suite of the Changbai Mountains by Zhang Shigong, The Blue Bridge by Chan Wei Qi and The Song of the Blackbird by Wang Qingzhong. 

The Jilin National Orchestra of Traditional Chinese Musical Instruments has more than once taken part in the Music Festival “Harbin Summer”, the Shenyang Music Weeks, and the Beijing Music Week “Year of the Dragon”. The Orchestra participated in the National Concert held at the National Centre for the Performing Arts in China. In 2014, it took part in the Jilin Culture Week in the USA. In November 2014, the Orchestra participated in the “Chinese Dream” concert in Shanghai. In July 2015, it took part in the Jilin Culture Week in Germany. The Orchestra has toured to Mongolia, Kazakhstan, North Korea, India, Russia, England, USA, Canada, Japan, Denmark, Hungary, Bulgaria, South Africa, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Hong Kong, Taiwan, and a number of other countries.
