Nikolay Efremov


Baritone

Born in Moscow. Graduated from the Academic Musical College of the Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatory, then the Tchaikovsky Moscow State Conservatory and completed the MSC Postgraduate Course (class of the People’s Artist of Russia, Prof. P.I. Skusnichenko).

From 2009 was a soloist of the Opera Theatre of the Moscow State Conservatory. In 2013–2015 was a soloist of the Galina Vishnevskaya’s Opera Center.

In 2013–2015 took part in music festivals in Germany and Turkey.

In 2014 performed the part of Prince Nikita Kurlyatev (The Enchantress. P. Tchaikovsky) at Theater an-der-Wien (conductor M. Tatarnikov, director Ch. Loy).In 2015 performed the part of the King’s Herald (Lohengrin. R. Wagner) at Opera de Rennes (conductor R. Pielmeier, director Ch. Wagner).

In 2016 debuted as Prince Nikita Kurlyatev at the Bolshoi Theatre (conductor A. Lazarev, director A. Titel).

In August 2016 toured in Great Britain as a member of the Komi State Opera and Ballet Theatre as Escamillo (Carmen. Bizet).

In 2013 collaborated with the pianist Mikhail Korshunov, with whom he prepared and performed several concert programmes featuring western and Russian vocal chamber and opera music.

In 2016 this duet was awarded the 2nd prize at the International Competition for Voice and Piano Duos Pianovoce.

Prize-winner at the International Vocal Competition VoxArtis (the 3rd prize, Sibiu, Romania, 2013), diploma-recipient at the II International Competition for Voice and Piano Duos (Moscow, 2014).

Nikolay Efremov’s repertoire includes:
Ibn-Hakia, Robert (Iolanta. P. Tchaikovsky),
Schaunard, Marcello (La bohème. G. Puccini),
Giorgio Germont, Barone (La traviata, G. Verdi),
Prologue, Tonio (Pagliacci. Leoncavallo),
Onegin (Eugene Onegin, P. Tchaikovsky) and other parts.
The singer has also performed the parts of baritone in cantatas and oratorios by Bach, Händel, Saint-Saens,Szymanowski, Prokofiev, Shaporin and others.
