International Hans Gabor Belvedere Singing Competition: Opera Singers Have Audition on the Primorsky Stage of the Mariinsky Theatre

Any opera singer wishing to take part in the 39th International Hans Gabor Belvedere Singing Competition will be given an audition at the Chamber Hall of the Primorsky Stage of the Mariinsky Theatre on March 4, 2020 at 15:00.

Larisa Diadkova, Artistic Director of the Primorsky Stage Opera Company and Mariinsky Theatre soloist awarded the title of People’s Artist of Russia, Pavel Smelkov, Principal Conductor of the Mariinsky Orchestra of the Primorsky Stage, and Elena Glushenko, Associate Professor of Solo and Opera Singing at the Far Eastern State Institute of Art, are to be jurors at the audition.

The International Hans Gabor Belvedere Singing Competition is one of the world’s best known competitions for opera singers. The Competition was created by Hans Gabor in 1982. The qualifying rounds are held in 70 cities all over the world. As currently estimated by international experts, the Belvedere Competition is the largest one in number of countries involved. The jury consists of directors or art directors of the world’s largest opera houses and leading opera managers. All competitors treasure their opportunities to be noticed by the community of professionals. The qualifying rounds take place at such internationally renowned theatres as La Scala in Milan, the Covent Garden Royal Opera House in London and others. Only about 100 participants make it into the final round which is annually held in Vienna. The main prizes are awarded in the form of engagements.
