Final Performances of Lucia di Lammermoor on the Primorsky Stage of the Mariinsky Theatre

October 10 and 12 will be the last nights for the audience to see Gaetano Donizetti’s opera Lucia di Lammermoor staged by Andrea de Rosa, on the Primorsky Stage of the Mariinsky Theatre. The opera, one of the most challenging ones in the bel canto style, will be presented by the theatre’s company soloists. Anton Torbeev will be at the conductor’s desk.

Lucia di Lammermoor is a tragic masterpiece of Italian composer Gaetano Donizetti. Its plot based on Walter Scott’s novel is the story of a girl faced with a choice between love and her family’s well-being. A romantic melodrama where emotions occupy the characters entirely, striking personalities, a relentlessly thickening suspense with sudden turns of action, and to top it all, delightful tunes of Donizetti — this is the formula of the unbelievable popularity of Lucia di Lammermoor with the public.

On October 10 at 19:00, the main parts in the performance will be sung by Maria Suzdaltseva as Lucia, Alexei Kostyuk as Edgardo, Alexei Bublik as Enrico, and Sergey Pleshivtsev as Raimondo. On October 12 at 17:00, the opera will be presented by Olga Zharikova as Lucia, Vyacheslav Vasiliev as Enrico, Evgeny Plekhanov as Raimondo, and Mergen Sandanov will make his debut as Edgardo.
