Valery Gergiev Presents Talented Young Musicians from Japan, China and South Korea

On August 4, 2019 (12:00), as part of the Fourth International Mariinsky Far East Festival, Vladivostok, a concert of the Mariinsky Orchestra conducted by Valery Gergiev with the participation of young talented musicians An Tianxu (China), Miura Fumiaki (Japan) and Kim Gihoon (Republic of Korea) will take place on the Primorsky Stage of the Mariinsky Theatre.

The concert program will include: Pavane pour une infante défunte by Maurice Ravel, Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini by Sergey Rakhmaninov (soloist An Tianxu), Violin Concerto by Jan Sibelius (soloist Miura Fumiaki), aria of Yeletsky from The Queen of Spades by Pyotr Tchaikovsky, aria of Renato from Un ballo in maschera by Giuseppe Verdi (soloist Kim Gihoon), and Pictures at an Exhibition by Modest Musorgsky.

An Tianxu and Kim Gihoon are prizewinners at the recently completed XVI International Tchaikovsky Competition. This Competition is one of the most important and highly anticipated events. It is held every four years and is of particular importance to the world music community. Tchaikovsky Competition is traditionally a launching pad for young gifted musicians, giving them the opportunity to gain the love and recognition of the global professional community, and to start a brilliant international career.

Miura Fumiaki won the first prize, the Critics Prize and the Audience Award at the Josef Joachim International Violin Competition, becoming the youngest contest winner in its history. Currently he is actively touring. He performed with the Philharmonic and Symphony Orchestras of the North German Radio (Hannover), the Basel Symphony Orchestra, the Vienna Chamber Orchestra, the Lausanne Chamber Orchestra, the Warsaw Philharmonic Orchestra and the Tokyo Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra.
