Stars of the World Performing Art in the November Billboard of the Primorsky Stage of the Mariinsky Theatre

The ballet playbill of the last autumn month will feature three performances of The Sleeping Beauty ballet by Pyotr Tchaikovsky. This year, the show is dedicated to the 200th anniversary of Marius Petipa (on November 17, 2018 at 14:00 and 19:00). On November 22, 2018 Kimin Kim, the principal dancer of the Mariinsky Ballet, the winner of Rossiya-Kultura TV’s project Grand Ballet, will appear in the party of Prince Désiré. In November, the public will enjoy such popular performances as The Nutcracker (November 10, 2018), Le Corsaire (November 3, 2018) and Giselle, ou les Wilis (November 15, 2018). On November 24, 2018 at 14:00 and 17:00, Bambi and In the Jungle ballets for children will take place. The masterpieces of the twentieth century ballet art will also be presented to the audience: George Balanchine’s one-act ballets (November 1 and 8, 2018), Carmen Suite ballet created by choreographer Alberto Alonso (November 1, 2018) and L’Oiseau de feu ballet as interpreted by the head ballet master of the Primorsky Stage Eldar Aliev (November 29, 2018).

In November, instrumental music fans will enjoy two symphonic evenings with eminent soloists. On November 7, 2018, one of the most sought-after cellists of the modern era, prizewinner at the Tchaikovsky Competition in Moscow Alexander Kniazev will perform together with the Mariinsky Orchestra of the Primorsky Stage for the first time. The concert program includes works by Russian authors of the 20th century (Georgy Sviridov, Alfred Schnittke, Rodion Shchedrin, Alexander Smelkov). On November 16, 2018, the Mariinsky Orchestra of the Primorsky Stage will continue the series of concerts dedicated to the creative genius of the great 19th century German romantic composer Johannes Brahms. This time, the public will hear the famous Symphony No. 3 and the Piano Concerto No. 2, where Peter Laul, a laureate of international competitions and a bright member of the St. Petersburg school, will perform as soloist. Pavel Smelkov will act as the conductor of the symphony concerts. On November 11 and 14, 2018, the public will again have the chance to see the premiere show of the new Primorsky Stage season, The Tsar’s Bride opera by Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov staged by Vyacheslav Starodubtsev. During the school holidays, The Mariinsky Vacation Project will take place. Within the framework of the project, the young audience will enjoy Eugene Onegin (“lyrical scenes”) (November 2, 2018) and The Tale of Tsar Saltan (November 4, 2018) operas. Die Zauberflöte (November 18, 2018) and The Love for Three Oranges (November 21, 2018) operas (semi-staged performances) performed in Russian, staged as interactive shows by Alain Maratrat will also be perfect for family viewing. The November poster will be supplemented with the shows of the cult names of the world opera: Rigoletto (November 9, 2018), Carmen (November 25, 2018) and La traviata (November 28, 2018).
