The Liaoning Ballet of China presents contemporary and classical choreography at the Primorsky Stage of the Mariinsky Theatre

Yesterday the Liaoning Ballet of China opened a series of its performances at the Primorsky Stage of the Mariinsky Theatre with the ballet Eight Heroines, which is the centrepiece of its first ever Far East tour.

On 26, 27, 28 October, the Far East for the first time hosts the performances by the artists of one of the major ballet companies of China. For their first tour in this region, the Company has chosen the ballet, the plot of which is based on the real events that took place in China back in the 1930th. The impressive production, performed by the best artists of the troupe, recreates the atmosphere of those dramatic events through design and technical mastery of the dancers. A minimalist style of the costumes and sets, and elaborate lighting solution accentuate the storyline and vividly illustrate the plot.

On 29 October, the series of performances by the Liaoning Ballet in Vladivostok will be closed with a Gala by Chinese Ballet Stars. The Liaoning Ballet adheres to the classical traditions, while being committed to creating a solid Chinese ballet repertoire and preserving traditions of the national performing art. The Company regularly invites renowned ballet teachers and choreographers from Russia, Europe, Asia and America to share their experience and further develop the dancing prowess of the troupe. The programme of the Gala Concert includes excerpts from classical ballets by European and Russian choreographers, as well as pieces of contemporary choreography.
