Valery Gergiev and Denis Matsuev, Kimin Kim, Peking Opera and many other impressive performances – in the November Playbill of the Primorsky Stage of the Mariinsky Theatre.

In November, the Primorsky Stage of the Mariinsky Theatre presents an intense, festival-scale playbill: the key events will include performances by outstanding Russian pianist Denis Matsuev together with the Mariinsky Orchestra conducted by Valery Gergiev (November 29,30), the Mariinsky Ballet Star Kimin Kim (November 15) and soloists of the China National Peking Opera Company (November 4, 5).

The Vladivostok audience will for the first time have an opportunity to be introduced to the unique genre of Peking Opera included into the UNESCO List of Intangible Cultural Heritage. On November 4 and 5, the troupe of the China National Peking Opera Company will be presenting one of the most celebrated performances - The Legend of the White Snake, themed on the Chinese national folklore. The Chinese artists will demonstrate their vocal virtuosity and will let the audience get the feel of the national flavour with captivating mass scenes, lavish decorations, colourful costumes, inimitable bright makeup, elaborate dances and acrobatics.

The November opera repertoire includes Alain Maratrat’s productions for all the family The Magic Flute (November 2) and The Love for Three Oranges (November 16), the interactive performance Christmas Eve based on the eponymous novel by Nikolai Gogol (November 23 and 24) and the grandiose staging of Puccini’s most renowned opera Tosca (Novembre 18).

The centerpiece of the November ballet playbill is the long-awaited appearance of the Mariinsky principal dancer Kimin Kim as Count Albrecht in Giselle (November 15).

In November, the Ballet Company of the Primorsky Stage of the Mariinsky Theatre sets off on its first tour in the South Korean capital Seoul, where it will give two performances of Swan Lake in its Mariinsky Theatre’s classical version. In Vladivostok, the Company will perform ballets of the current repertoire: Le Corsaire (November 1), The Sleeping Beauty (November 6), one-act ballets by George Balanchine (November 17), An evening of ballet The Firebird (November 19), The Nutcracker (November 25, 26).

The indisputable culmination of the November events will be the Rachmaninoff Cycle (November 29 at 20:00 and November 30 at 11:00). Denis Matsuev and the Mariinsky Orchestra conducted by Valery Gergiev will perform all Sergei Rachmaninoff’s works for piano and orchestra.
