Closing performances of Der fliegende Hollander at the Primorsky Stage of the Mariinsky Theatre

Der fliegende Hollander by Richard Wagner closes at the Primorsky Stage of the Mariinsky Theatre with two performances on on October 12 and 14.

Ian Judge’s production will be presented by soloists of the Mariinsky Theatre (St Petersburg), leading singers, Chorus and the Mariinsky Orchestra of the Primorsky Stage conducted by Pavel Smelkov.

In the October performances wonderful Wagnerian performers Vadim Kravets (the Dutchman) and Leonid Zakhozhev (Eric) will appear alongside the Primorsky Stage soloists. The part of Senta will be for the first time performed by the Company’s leading soprano Alena Diyanova. Her Primorsky Stage repertoire includes lyrical characters in Eugene Onegin (Tatiana) and The Tale of the Tsar Saltan (Militrisa), parts of Oxana in Christmas Eve and Violette in La traviata, as well as dramatic heroines in operas Tosca, Macbeth, The Queen of Spades. Alena Diyanova’s debut in Der fliegende Hollander, which she has prepared by her together with the Mariinsky leading concert masters and coaches, will be her first contact with Richard Wagner’s music.

The part of Daland will be sung for the first time by Vladivostok’s audience favourite, award-winning bass Sergei Pleshivtsev. The performance will also feature Evgeny Mizin (the Steersman) and Tatiana Makarchuk (Mary).
