The Programme of the 16th Moscow Easter Festival Features Three Concerts at the Primorsky Stage of the Mariinsky Theatre

Vladivostok will become a participant of the Symphic and Choral Programmes of the 16th Moscow Easter Festival directed by Maestro Valery Gergiev.

On April 18 at 19-30, the Primorsky Stage of the Mariinsky Theatre will, for the first time, take part in the Choral Programme of the Moscow Easter Festival: the Mixed Choir of the Primorsky Mitropolis under Ludmila Makarenko will give a concert at the Great Hall of the Theatre.

On May 2 and 4, as a part of the Festival’s Symphonic Programme, the Primorsky Stage of the Mariinsky Theatre will host performances by virtuoso Seong-Jin Cho, the first South Korean pianist to receive the the First Prize, as well as the Gold Medal at the Chopin International Piano Competition in Warsaw.

On May 2, he will give a recital and on May 4 will perform works by M. Ravel, L. Beethoven, H. Berlioz together with the Mariinsky Orchestra of the Primorsky Stage under the baton of the winner of the Grand Prize, Audience Prize and Orchestra Prize at the Besancon International Young Conductors Competition Darrell Ang (Singapore).

As a part of the Festival’s Choral Programme, the Mixed Choir of the Primorsky Metropolia conducted by Lyudmila Makarenko will perform at the Cathedral of the Intercession of the Holy Virgin on April 25, while the Chorus of the Church of the Port Arthur Icon of the Blessed Virgin will perform in the Church of the Port Arthur Icon of the Blessed Virgin on April 26. It is the first time that Vladivostok presents such a large-scale choral programme as a part of the Moscow Easter Festival.

The Festival will also feature a charity concert by the Mariinsky Orchestra of the Primorsky Stage conducted by Pavel Smelkov in the Knyaze-Volkonsky Garrison (Khabarovsk region).

The XVI Moscow Easter Festival will be held from April 16 to May 9, 2017, with the support of the Moscow Government, the Russian Ministry of Culture and Ministry of Defense and the blessing of His Holiness Kirill, Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia. The Artistic Director - Valery Gergiev.

The 16th Festival is dedicated to the 135th anniversary of Igor Fyodorovich Stravinsky.
