January events calendar of the Primorsky Stage of the Mariinsky Theatre features several performances by Maria Guleghina. The world-renowned singer is expected to star in three performances and have a meeting with her admirers.
The first Maria Guleghina appearance will be in Giacomo Puccini’s Tosca on January 20, in which the singer will play the part she promised to perform during her previous visit to Vladivostok in May 2016.
Floria Tosca is one of the most successful Maria Guleghina’s roles, which has received international critical acclaim. After she had performed the famous aria Vissi d'arte, vissi d'amore (I lived for art, I lived for love) at the Stars of the White Nights Festival in St Petersburg, the audience applauded and called for an encore for so long that the conductor had to stop the performance and to repeat the number one more time. It is safe to say that the aria Vissi d'arte, vissi d'amore can be called Maria Guleghina’s credo as all her life devoted to music and her infinite love for her audience can serve as an example for many artists. On December 22 Maria Guleghina will meet her admirers at the Chamber Hall of the Primorsky Stage of the Mariinsky Theatre.
On January 26 and 27 Maria Guleghina will appear as Lady Macbeth in the Vladivostok premiere of Giuseppe Verdi’s Macbeth. The singer’s gorgeous, sensual voice filled with real Italian passion is coupled with dramatic acting, incredible in its impact. It’s noteworthy that it was dramatic expressiveness that Verdi put in the forefront in this opera he loved so much.
