Xu Yan


Soloist of the National Ballet of China

Born in 1994 in Luoyang, Henan Province of China, Xu Yan graduated from Affiliated Dance School of Shanghai Theater Academy in 2011 and entered the National Ballet of China the same year.

She has danced in the Red Detachment of Women, Raise the Red Lantern, Swan Lake, Onegin, Carmen, the Nutcracker (Chinese version 2010), and the Peony Pavilion.

She won the Silver medal of Junior Group in the 9th National Dance Competition (Taoli Cup) and the Bronze medal in the 2nd Beijing International Ballet and Choreography Competition. At the same time, she and Qiu Yunting got the Award of Internship to the Moscow Theatre. They visited the Moscow theatre for a year, training and performing with the actors there, and received the corresponding wages. It was known as the first time that the Moscow theatre set up such a prize in the world.
